![]() Stonefly gameplay video → King of Seas Review PlayStation 4 ★★★★☆ Out of all the indies I've played recently, Stonefly stands out as one of the most unique and immersive I highly recommend playing it. I also enjoyed the gorgeous visuals, outstanding soundtrack, and the upgrade system is fantastic. Yes, it takes a while for combat to click but once it does, it's supremely rewarding. Meanwhile, combat is accomplished by stunning enemy bugs only to push them off the edge of the arena which reminded me of Namco's arcade classic Motos and it can be just as frantic here, too. This machine is unlike anything I've ever controlled because you essentially hop around and glide while using wind gusts to travel. For starters, it's set in a miniature world where you control Annika Stonefly who invents gadgets and pilots an insect-like contraption. Stonefly is a strange game that initially made me hesitant but as I plugged away, it started to become a truly mesmerizing and engaging experience. Is it wrong that I feel guilty for stealing these bugs' resources? Some indie games offer a truly unique experience and Stonefly delivers something out-of-this-world that I definitely wasn't expecting. Astalon: Tears Of The Earth gameplay video → Stonefly Review PlayStation 4 ★★★★☆ It truly is a pitch-perfect old-school indie gem.Īstalon: Tears Of The Earth feels like a long-lost NES game that gamers would still be playing 3 decades after its initial release. They won't always be able to trek the same paths so taking advantage of their unique abilities makes for one satisfying campaign. The cast consists of the melee fighter Arias, the agile Kyuli, and the magical wizard Algus. You'll also have the opportunity to spend earned currency on upgrades which is satisfying. Whenever you perish which will happen from time to time because it's quite a difficult game, you'll be reincarnated so slowly inching your way up the tower while learning enemy patterns and how to progress past tricky platforming segments is the key to success. That's right Astalon: Tears Of The Earth has you take turns controlling 3 unique characters who are on a mission to save their village by climbing a huge and intricate tower. Time to form a plan of attack for this tricky situation. Mighty Goose gameplay video → Metal Slug games Astalon: Tears Of The Earth Review PlayStation 4 ★★★★☆Ĭontrolling 3 distinct characters to progress in a tricky 2D action game sounds promising so let's check out Astalon: Tears Of The Earth. Playing Mighty Goose made me reminisce about Metal Slug and it's fittingly just as fun with its humorous action-packed campaign. On top of all this, the humour is fantastic such as the idle animation where you blast your own head then the goose looks at the camera like "whoops!" Oh, and the music rocks, too! You also have an overdrive gauge that you can deploy once it's full in order to basically become invincible which is handy in a pinch. For starters, you have an arsenal of temporary weapons, a couple of special moves, and animal friends that can do things like make ammo materialize. ![]() Anyway, the core gameplay will have you running and gunning through challenging jam-packed stages and there are some supplementary gameplay mechanics that really make the combat stand out. Mighty Goose was clearly inspired by Metal Slug and its gameplay is almost as tight which is very impressive considering just how awesome Metal Slug is. When geese aren't annoying the crap out of folks, they're driving tanks and shooting robots with clever weapons here's Mighty Goose! v1d30chumz 78-26-147-81 Time for this goose and its pig friend to blow crap up! I enjoy playing video games (obviously) and I appreciate indie games that are fun in unique ways so here are 8 recent fun-filled titles. Maciejewski for Rapid Fire Reviews on June 15, 2021 “Mighty Goose is a modern take on the throwback run-and-gun of the 90’s, combining funny characters and crazy encounters with solid gameplay and fluidity of a modern game.Written by A.J. ![]() “Combining the goose character with something as action-packed as Metal Slug seemed like a really funny idea.” said Richard Lems, founder of Blastmode. Thankfully you’ll have friends – it seems geese CAN be nice – and by rescuing companions and placing their abilities under the secure wing of Mighty, will be able to team up in a real goose and gander way.ĭelivered through the medium of pixel art, and running a highly explosive soundtrack that has been put together by Dominic Ninmark ( Blazing Chrome), this is sure to be one weird, outlandish goose run. Due to this you’ll find yourself going up hordes of minions and machines, all powered forth thanks to the screams of that Void King. Why? Well, Mighty Goose is looking to take the fight to the Void King, and we reckon they’ve got absolutely no qualms about instigating this fight.
